A former CSU Channel Islands student has been sentenced to a year in jail after pleading guilty in a 2016 sexual assault that took place on the Camarillo campus.

Jonathan Henry-Walker, 26, was sentenced earlier this month to a year in Ventura County jail and five years probation by Ventura County Superior Court Judge Derek Malan, court records show. He also must register as a sex offender. Henry-Walker is slated to report to jail on Jan. 6.

In September, Henry-Walker pleaded guilty to one felony count of unlawful sex by fraud or fear. The plea came three years after the incident in September 2016. Henry-Walker, a junior at the time, was accused of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman who had been at a party in his dorm room, prosecutors said, after he had given her alcohol.

Two other female students had also accused him of sexual assault, but prosecutors said the evidence only supported filing one charge. The reports of the three women, filed in November that year, launched a three-and-a-half month investigation that led to Henry-Walker's arrest in March 2017 at his home in San Bernardino County.
