Maynard James Keenan of Tool performs at Gila River Arena on Wednesday, Oct. 23, in Glendale.

The Tool "Fear Inoculum" tour will return to Gila River Arena on Saturday, Jan. 18, with Author & Punisher replacing Killing Joke in the opening slot.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15 via Ticketmaster.

A limited number of VIP packages will be available exclusively to Tool Army members via Toolband.com at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov.13.

When Tool played Glendale in October, it was "a visually breathtaking night of dystopian art-rock spectacle" and " like watching Pink Floyd through a darker looking glass."

The tour is in support of the chart-topping triumph that is "Fear Inoculum," the band's first release in 13 years.

In August, Tool made their entire back catalog available to digital service providers, which led to "Opiate," "Undertow," "Ænima," "Lateralus" and the 2006 album we've been forced to call their latest effort, "10,000 Days." That pulled in more than 20 million streams in the subsequent 48 hours while holding down the top five spots on iTunes’ Top 10 album chart.

"Ænima" re-entered Billboard’s Top 200 album chart at No. 10, followed by "Lateralus" at No. 16, "10,000 Days" at No. 18 and "Undertow" at No. 19." The "Opiate" EP, their first release, which never charted at the time, hit No. 59. They also took four of the top five spots on Billboard’s Hard Rock Albums chart (the first act to achieve that feat upon digital release) and claimed 15 of 25 spots on Billboard’s Rock Digital Song Sales chart.
