CCF launches another “nothingburger” ad

The Center for Consumer Freedom has launched another ad in its national campaign to raise consumer awareness about fake meat products.

Director Will Coggin says there’s a misconception that because the products are plant-based, they are healthy, “What these companies are trying to do is, you know, they experiment with trying to manufacture something that has the same mouth feel, the same taste, very similar properties to mimic real mean, real beef. But, in order to do that this is stuff that’s manufactured in a laboratory.”

Coggins tells Brownfield Ag News it’s up to consumers to decide if the Impossible Burger, the Beyond Meat burger and related products are healthy for them but they need to know what’s in them.

The ad uses quotes from nutritionists, one of whom says “it’s not like you’re eating vegetables, they’re processed vegetarian products.”

The full page ad is running in the New York Times and other ads have run in USDA Today, The Wall Street Journal and the New York Post.
