USDA raises pork export projections

The USDA has raised its forecast for U.S. pork exports.  The Economic Research Service says China’s demand for imported pork continues to accelerate with the spread of African Swine Fever, and some of that pork is coming from the U.S.

The ERS says China’s swine inventory is down 41% causing their consumer prices to nearly double.

The agency’s monthly Livestock, Dairy and Poultry Outlook projects 2019 U.S. pork exports at 6.8 billion pounds but rising 12% to 7.3 billion pounds in 2020.
