NDN Athlete of the Week winner: Michael Poole, Naples XC
Naples High School cross country runner Michael Poole has been voted the Naples Daily News Athlete of the Week for Oct. 28-Nov. 2.
Poole finished seventh individually at the Class 3A-Region 3 race, helping the Golden Eagles to second place as a team. He collected 448 of the 1,752 votes (25.6 percent) in the Daily News' online poll.
Gulf Coast football player Konner Barrett was second in the poll with 371 votes (21.2 percent). Barron Collier volleyball player Hannah Alfes finished third with 312 votes (17.8 percent).
A new Athlete of the Week poll will be posted at 7 a.m. each Monday, and voting is open until 10 a.m. Thursday. Winners receive an Athlete of the Week T-shirt by BSN SPORTS as well as a Naples Daily News gift bag. A video featuring the winner will be posted Thursday on naplesnews.com.

Football Offense
Konner Barrett, Gulf Coast – Threw for 182 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 139 yards and a touchdown in a 40-35 win over Gulf Coast
Football Defense
Damian Coleman, First Baptist – Had an interception to help preserve the Lions’ first shutout of the season, a 42-0 win over Orlando-West Oaks
Boys Cross Country
Michael Poole, Naples – Finished seventh in 17:04.69 at the Class 3A-Region 3 meet, helping the Golden Eagles place second as a team
Girls Cross Country
Grace O’Malley, Community School – Ran faster and placed higher than any other Collier County girl at a regional meet, finishing fourth in 20:27.22 at the Class 1A-Region 3 race
Boys Golf
Jordan Barker, Gulf Coast – Placed 24th at the Class 3A state meet after shooting a 6-over 150 in two rounds
Girls Golf
Kylie Mani, Gulf Coast – Was the Sharks’ top player at the Class 3A state finals, shooting 160 in two rounds
Boys Swimming
Mason Laur, Barron Collier – Earned four district titles (100 butterfly, 200 individual medley, two relays) as the Cougars won the Class 3A-District 9 championship
Girls Swimming
Sabyne Brisson, Naples – Won the 100-yard breaststroke at the Class 3A-District 9 meet and was on the winning 200 freestyle relay team as Naples won the district championship
Volleyball
Hannah Alfes, Barron Collier – Had seven kills, four blocks and two digs in a win over American Heritage in the Class 5A regional semifinals
