[productsample/affiliate] I like these compact cubes from Huda Beauty that incorporate contrasting but compatible colours.
The Nude collection covers off light, medium and deep tones with the absolute star being the ‘Rich’ palette for darker skin that showcases a proper understanding that ‘nude’ has many variations. It really made me aware all over again that what I assume is a nude toned palette is only relevant to certain skin tones. It’s the one palette I haven’t swatched because I think it needs to be seen on the tone it’s intended for so when my friend Annie comes back from her holiday, I’ll get her to swatch it up appropriately.
Skin tone regardless, all of the colours are full on. There’s nothing shy about the depth of shades so these are really not for anyone who wants a subtle day to day look – they’re for all out glam and nothing wrong with that! Each palette contains a mix of pigment packed metallic and matte hues.
Above is Light and Medium – the only shade I struggled a bit with is the end of the middle row of Light in a kind of pink/gold shifty shade. It just, for some reason, wasn’t as generous as the other colours.
I swatch with a sponge applicator and don’t usually tidy up the results – most of the colours just streak across my arm with no problem, but the pink/gold took three goes to look the same as the rest. Aside from that, there aren’t really any complaints at all – you can see for yourself what you get, and with blending or building you can really customise these palettes to whatever you need them to be.
This is the Medium palette – one of the mattes (fourth up) looks a little patchy but this didn’t translate to my lid where it went on perfectly and evenly. I don’t try every shade on my lids but if something looks troublesome or even awesome, I make sure I can see that it’s as it should be when worn on the eyes. Interesting..HB’s other mini palettes are £25 so I’m interested to know why these are priced at £2 more at £27? Posher packaging maybe? Great review Jane xx
Well they have a leather style lid so perhaps that’s it but I really don’t know and didn’t spot the price difference myself so thank you for raising it!
I bought the light and find it a little finicky to work with. Eye primer does not bring the best out of these, you need a glitter glue to bring the sparkle to full glow, otherwise it’s a sort of pastelly kind of wash.
