Election Day 2019: See results for San Juan Soil and Water Conservation District elections

FARMINGTON —

Catherine Thomas-Kemp has defeated incumbent Emma Deyo for the Position 5 seat on the San Juan Soil and Water Conservation District according to unofficial results. 

Thomas-Kemp is a jewelry artist and metalsmith who studied art and anthropology at the University of New Mexico. She teaches classes at San Juan College and sells her art at local art studios, like Artifacts Gallery.  

Deyo held the Position 5 Supervisor seat for two years. She had previously been the district manager for the conservation district for eight years.

The only contested race was position 5 on the board of supervisors. Position 5 is the only at large position on the board, meaning people can run for it regardless of where they live in the soil and water conservation district's boundaries.

Thomas-Kemp will be joined on the conservation district by Cash A. Carruth, who ran unopposed for the Supervisor Position 2 spot, and Deanne L. McKee, who also ran unopposed for the Supervisor Position 1 spot on the conservation district.

The San Juan Soil and Water Conservation District is mainly within San Juan County, however it does include portions of Rio Arriba and Sandoval counties.
