Minnesota farmer done harvesting soybeans

Farmers in Minnesota made good progress on soybean harvest toward the end of last week.

Rochelle Krusemark of Trimont in south-central Minnesota says they finished soybeans Sunday night.

“We strip-till and do a lot of cover crops, so we were able to get into the fields as soon as the soybeans (we’re ready). So pretty much everything we harvested was in that 14 to 12 percent (moisture) range, which is nice. You don’t have much shatter at that (moisture).”

She tells Brownfield soybean yields were all over the board.

Krusemark harvested a few acres of corn more than a week ago at 25 percent moisture and returned to that field Tuesday.

“It was down to 22, 23 percent moisture, and the yields were very favorable. They look good.”

Rain has slowed harvest activity across southern Minnesota this week.  Krusemark says they’ll be going full bore on corn once fields firm up a bit more.
