USDA: 2019 cotton ginnings ahead of 2018 pace

The USDA says upland cotton ginnings continue to run ahead of the year ago pace. More than 2.835 million bales have been ginned as of October 15th, up 417,400 from this time last year.

Late development and harvest are ahead of the 2018 pace and this year’s crop is going to be larger than last year following an increase in planted area.

The USDA’s next set of supply, demand, and production estimates is out November 8th.

Ginnings for Brownfield states:

Arkansas: 204,650 bales, compared to 238,900 in 2018

Missouri: 76,500 bales, compared to 168,350 in 2018

Tennessee: 135,550 bales, compared to 151,300 in 2018
