[productsamples] I can’t believe I’ve found a Coffee Scrub that I actually like! I rarely feature coffee scrubs because I can’t really see past the fact that if you dug into your own coffee machine and added some oil to the grounds, you’d have exactly the same thing for free – and several cups of coffee!
This version smells like a creamy cappuccino – or like coffee ice-cream. It’s not too sweet and the scrubs (a mix of grounds and salt) are enveloped in a silky cocoa butter and almond oil mix so that it feels soft and hydrating as you scrub (which releases a further burst of coffee aroma) and leaves skin smooth and not at all taut when you rinse away. There are actually several scrub versions – Sugar & Sour Orange, Salt and Lemongrass for example – and I’d highly recommend on both practical, skin sloughing levels and on olfactory delights.
As well as not liking coffee scrubs, I’ve also got an aversion to chocolate scented beauty things. So, the Almond Chocolat Lip Balm was never going to be my thing, BUT, it is a beautiful, glossy balm that instantly softens the lips with cocoa seed butter, shea butter and Abyssinian oil. It’s gorgeous and stays on the lip giving a protective barrier as well as nourishment. I’m amazed that it’s only £7. There are other variants, all chocolate infused, and a lovely sounding Lime & Avocado Smile Reviver (lip scrub to you and me). I can’t detect much fragrance to the Wonder Balm which can also be used on lips – it uses shea butter and cocoa butter with Bois Bandé, apparently an aphrodisiac. Wonder Balm indeed, if it works!

This brand is from Hotel Chocolat – champions of sustainable and fair cocoa farming in St Lucia. The name comes from the estate where Hotel Chocolat grows their own beans – it’s definitely worth reading more about the story HERE. There’s no getting around it if you don’t like the vanilla charged scent of chocolate, but if you do, this entire collection will be bliss. It’s just so well done – it’s not too expensive, the products are punching well above their price weight, the formulations are fabulous and we have glaring gaps in affordable, luxurious body care in the UK. Rabat 1745 brings further industry to the island (well, both St Lucia and the UK now I think about it), uses by-products of their core range of chocolate and uses recyclable and sustainable packaging wherever possible and has a vegan section.
