USDA releases September dairy ending stocks

USDA cold storage stocks for dairy products in September were up except for butter.  

Total cheese stocks were up half of a percent to just over 621 thousand metric tons or 1.3 billion pounds.  Natural American cheese stocks were up two-tenths of a percent to almost 350 thousand metric tons or 771 million pounds.  Other cheeses were up two-tenths of a percent to 271 thousand metric tons or 587 million pounds.  

Butter stocks went down seven-tenths of a percent to 137 thousand metric tons or 302 million pounds.

Compared to last year, butter stocks are 7% higher, American cheese is 4% lower, and total cheese is eight-tenths of a percent lower.
