HOBE SOUND — A local man was accused of pointing a pistol at a woman's face and threatening to kill her after she refused to take him to Duffy's Sports Grill in Stuart.

Michael Garruto, 47, of an unspecified part of Hobe Sound, was arrested on one felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon Monday morning.

A woman called the Martin County Sheriff's Office on Oct. 12 and told deputies the previous night Garruto had pushed her, threatened to kill her and pointed a pistol at her after she refused to take him to Duffy's.

The woman told deputies she refused to take Garruto to the restaurant because he was drunk.

After Garruto pointed the pistol at her, the woman said she told him she'd drive him wherever he wanted and he asked her to drive him to Palm Beach Gardens to meet some friends.

Garruto was taken to the Martin County Jail Monday morning. He was still in jail Tuesday with a $20,000 bond.
