Police: Man arrested after gun scare at Rapid City mall

A 48-year-old man was arrested after he caused a panic at the Rushmore Mall in Rapid City, police say.

Police responded to reports of a man with a gun at the Rushmore Mall on Sunday afternoon, according to a news release from the Rapid City Police Department. Officers found the suspect, Kenneth Woods, from Rapid City, in the south parking lot acting agitated. Woods did not have a gun, but initially refused to comply with officer commands, according to the news release.

Woods gave officers a false name before he was identified and had a warrant out for his arrest, according to the news release. Police found a syringe and a baggie that tested positive for meth.

He was arrested for obstruction, possession of a controlled substance and an existing warrant, according to the news release.
