Wisconsin soybean harvest trailing last year by one day

Wisconsin farmers were in the fields last week between intermittent showers to make harvest progress.

As of Sunday, Soybean harvest reached 32%, only one day behind last year and nine days behind the five-year average. The crop is rated 66% good to excellent.

Corn for grain harvest is 7% complete and corn for silage harvest reached 69%. Ten percent of Wisconsin corn has yet to reach the dented stage and 4% has not reached the dough stage. The USDA rates the crop 63% good to excellent.

Winter wheat planting progressed to 57% complete, 12 days behind average.

Harvest also progressed for other crops including oats at 94%, potatoes at 85% and the fourth cutting of alfalfa hay at 80% complete.
