EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Some Vanderburgh County residents with active warrants for their arrest will have a chance to have those lifted without actually being arrested.

The Vanderburgh County Prosecutor's Office is hosting this warrant compliance event from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 29 in room 110 in the Civic Center's court building. Those planning to attend are asked to arrive early.

For your warrant to be recalled, you must meet several criteria:

  • the warrant must be for an alleged misdemeanor crime
  • you must bring a valid ID
  • you must agree to go before a judge immediately after the warrant is lifted

There are more than 12,000 active warrants in Vanderburgh County, according to the prosecutor's office.

If you're not sure whether there's one out for your arrest, you can search the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's website.
