Andrews University converting dairy farm to ag ed center

Andrews University in Southwest Michigan is turning its dairy farm facilities into an agricultural education center.

The Adventist university in Berrien Springs closed its dairy this year after milking cows for more than 110 years and offering a dairy management program for students.

Split over five phases over the next five years or as funds allow, the new center will include pastures for rotational grazing, small animal and calf barns, greenhouses and gardens, a classroom, an Animal Science Complex for specialty livestock, an indoor riding ring and outdoor horse arena, and a fish pond.

The center will be part of the Department of Sustainable Agriculture and tie classroom learning to hands on experiences and international mission work.
