EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Fall fun is in full swing with a number of autumn-inspired events, spooky and otherwise. There are also several theater openings, a few concerts and even a block party. 

Thursday

UE Clay Club's Annual Chili Bowl Sale

11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., University of Evansville, Hyde Hall Lawn (rain location is inside Eykamp Hall on the second floor of Ridgway)

$10, one of a kind ceramic bowl and chili, larger bowls $15-$50, artistic bowls $60-$100

The University of Evansville’s Clay Club annual Chili Bowl sale features bowls made by club members, other UE students, faculty members, staff, alumni and members of the community. Half of the proceeds will be donated to Bread of Life Ministry INC. The rest of the proceeds will be used by the Clay Club to attend conferences, visit museums and galleries and host visiting artists.

'A Doll’s House, Part 2'

University of Southern Indiana Theatre continues its fall 2019 season with a student-directed production of "A Doll’s House, Part 2" by Lucas Hnath. In "A Doll’s House," written in 1879 by Henrik Ibsen, Nora Helmer made the decision to walk out on her husband and children – a decision that in the 19th century was practically unheard of.  Now, in "A Doll’s House, Part 2," 15 years have gone by.  With only a knock on the door to announce her arrival, Nora has returned to her former home. But why? What will it mean for her family and friends that she left behind?

Randy Travis is scheduled to make a special appearance during Thursday's concert of his hits with his original touring band.

This is the first time Randy Travis and his band have toured in 5 ½ years. The Music of Randy Travis will have the original Randy Travis band and feature guest vocalist James Dupré who will perform all sixteen #1 Randy Travis hits and include a special appearance with Randy Travis, himself.

The 56-year-old singer’s public performance career was put on hold in 2013 when Travis, who was then living in Texas, suffered a stroke as a result of a viral infection in his heart. With doctors telling the family that hope was virtually lost, he has fought back harder than ever and is now able to walk. His speech and singing continue to improve.

Singer James Dupre will perform Randy Travis' hits with Travis' longtime touring band at the Victory Thursday.

'From the Beginning' Opening Reception

5-8 p.m., Gamut Gallery, 1651 Lincoln Ave.

This is the first exhibition at Gamut's new location and features works by local, regional, national, and international artists.

Boo at the Zoo 2019

5-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Oct. 25 and 26, 3-6 p.m. Sunday and Oct. 27, Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden, 1545 Mesker Park Drive 

$6 for members, $8 for nonmembers, eventbrite.com. Tickets can be purchased online or in the Zoo Gift Shop. Advanced ticket purchase is recommended for faster entry into the event. Your tickets are valid for one of the six nights at Boo at the Zoo.

Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden's Boo at the Zoo features live entertainment, decor, trick or treating, storytelling, animal encounters, nightly costume contest with prizes and more. The Engelbrecht Carousel will be open during the event and will require two tokens per rider.

Madalyn Kirkwood, 4, chases after her nearly 2 year old brother, Cal, around a hay maze that was built for Boo at the Zoo at the Mesker Zoo on during a previous year's event. Boo at the Zoo opens Friday and the final day is Oct. 27.

Main Street Attraction

5-8 p.m., Signature School, 610 Main St.

Main Street Attraction is Signature School's Annual Outdoor Street Festival and fun fundraiser. The school closes down the one-block area in front of the school for the event where student groups sell food and beverages and host a variety of family-friendly games and activities to raise funds for their club projects. There's also a large silent auction to benefit the school's many events throughout the school year to support students and teachers. There will also be a half-pot drawing.

26th annual Historic Newburgh Ghost Walks

6-9 p.m. Friday, 5-9 p.m. Saturday, 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Downtown Newburgh

Advance purchase general admission tickets are $8 per person for State Street and Water Street tours, Hayride Tours are $15 per person.

Newburgh Ghost Walks feature stories that are rooted in history. They have been gleaned from old newspaper articles and from family legends. It is an interactive encounter with history.

Participants on the Ghost Walks can choose between three different haunted tours this year: hayride tour, Water Street tour and State Street tour.

The guided walking tours depart every 12 minutes from Preservation Hall (200 State Street) and last about an hour and will stay close to the downtown area.

Monster Mash Event

The Campus Activities Board's Annual Monster Mash event is back. It's a free, family-friendly event. 

Indiana Donor Network 5k Evansville

6-9 p.m., Friedman Park, 2700 Park Blvd, Newburgh,

Join the Indiana Donor Network Foundation 5K to celebrate life, honor organ and tissue donors and spread awareness about the importance of organ and tissue donation. There's both a 5K and 1-mile family fun route.

'The Three Musketeers'

7:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday, Oct. 24-26 and 2 p.m. Sunday and Oct. 27, Shanklin Theatre, UE 

$18 for an adult and $16 for a senior adult, child/student and UE employee.

The University of Evansville Theatre is bringing "The Three Musketeers" by Megan Monaghan Rivas, inspired by the novel of Alexandre Dumas, to the stage. This bold, new version of the beloved classic tale is set in 17th-century France but reimagined in a world where men and women are equally empowered. The theatrical re-telling mixes witty wordplay with swashbuckling sword fighting and fast-paced action culminating in a sensational story.

"The Three Muskateers" at UE's Shanklin Theatre opens Friday and runs this weekend and next.

Redekopp and Edwards, duo pianists

7:30 p.m. in Neu Chapel

Mark Edwards is the organist, pianist and harpsichordist of Baker Memorial United Methodist Church in St. Charles, Illinois, and maintains a studio as an independent teacher of piano, organ and harpsichord. Karin Redekopp Edwards is professor of piano at Wheaton College, Illinois. Recognized as accomplished soloists, each performs regularly with orchestra, in recital and in chamber music concerts.

Postmodern Jukebox

7:30 p.m., Preston Arts Center, 2660 S. Green St., Henderson

Postmodern Jukebox is described as "marrying the 21st-century party vibe of Miley Cyrus or the minimalist angst of Radiohead with the crackly warmth of a vintage 78 or the plunger-muted barrelhouse howl of a forgotten Kansas City jazzman."

Scott Bradlee (top) created the musical ensemble Postmodern Jukebox in 2009, performing popular modern music in vintage styles such as jazz, swing and ragtime. The collective hits the Preston Arts Center stage in Henderson at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18.

Tri-State Woodcarvers Club's “Wonders in Wood”

9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Salem United Methodist Church, 6311 Kratzville Road

$3 admission, 12 and under free

Woodcarvers from the Tri-State area will exhibit hand-carved and power-carved items for show and sale. Exhibitors include some nationally known carvers. Woodcarvings, tools, books, and wood will be available to purchase.

Fall Yart

10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Angel Mounds State Historic Site, 8215 Pollack Ave.

An all-local fine art sale, with nothing priced more than $50. No fees or commission costs mean all art sold will benefit the artists directly.

Children's Day at the Zombie Farm

1-5 p.m., Newburgh Civitan Zombie Farm, 5466 Vann Road, Newburgh

$5 for all ages

Games, trick or treating, activities and inflatables are all part of this family-friendly event. There is also a no-scare tour of the Zombie Farm. All proceeds benefit Easterseals Rehabilitation Center. The event is fully accessible for children of all abilities.

Jubilee! - A Block Party Celebrating 10 Years of Amy on Franklin

This year marks a decade since Amy Word bought Lamasco Bar & Grill and began her residency on Franklin Street. Lamasco and her newest restaurant, nearby Amy's On Franklin, are teaming up to "throw the biggest block party in our history."

There will be two outdoor stages, two indoor stages, music, other fun activities planned, food and drink specials and more. A number of bands will be playing including Cas One, Boscoe France, Kelo Keddafi, Calabash, The Honey Vines and Big Ninja Delight. 

Wandering Owl Twilight Tasting

4-8 p.m., Wesselman Woods, 551 N Boeke Road

This year's Wandering Owl Twilight Tasting is in the Wesselman Wood's Nature PlayScape. The event features a selection of food, beer and wine from local restaurants, breweries and wineries as well as live entertainment by Hudsy and Zion. All proceeds from the event fund the work and mission of Wesselman Woods.

Twilight Tour — "A Tribute to WWI Nurses"

5-7:30 p.m., Oak Hill Cemetery & Arboretum

Oak Hill Cemetery's Twilight Tour is a benefit for the Adopt an Ash Program attempting to save 23 ash trees within Oak Hill Cemetery from the Emerald Ash Borer. The tour is the third of its kind in the 166-year existence of Oak Hill and will feature live reenactors.

Silent Movie Night: 'Faust'

The Ninth annual Silent Movie Night at First Presbyterian Church will be accompanied by live improvised organ music provided by the church's music director Robert Nicholls. This year's feature film is "Faust," by Murnau, a classic horror film.

The night starts with the screening of silent romantic comedy "The Immigrant" featuring Charlie Chaplain's the Tramp. There will be a fundraising soup supper featuring 10 different soups. "Faust" begins at 7 p.m.  

Daniel Boone Presentation, open house

6 p.m., Warrick County Museum, 217 S. First St., Boonville

The Warrick County Museum will present Danny Russell as Daniel Boone. Russell will relive years filled with hardship and adventures. An open house begins at 6 p.m. with the Boone presentation at 7 p.m.

Halloween Hullabaloo

$5 per person, free 3 and under

Angel Mounds State Historic Site’s Halloween Hullabaloo will give you the opportunity to test your bravery along their haunted trails and escape the mummy’s curse in The Tomb. For those less brave, spend time working on games and crafts, get lost in The Tomb, and take a tour of our property on our haunted hayride. Don’t forget to bring your trick or treat bag because there will be candy! Costumes are encouraged.

Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra with cellist Sterling Elliott

7 p.m., The Victory

Adult tickets start at $31 and can be purchased by calling the Philharmonic Box Office at 812.425.5050, Ext 300 or by ordering online at evansvillephilharmonic.org. Tickets can also be purchased at the door, two hours prior to the concert. Discounted tickets are available for seniors, military, students and age 18-39 attendees and can be purchased by calling the box office.

The Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra continues their quest for a new conductor with their Saturday performance featuring music director finalist Scott Seaton as conductor and cellist Sterling Elliott. Seaton, originally from Nashville, Tennessee, earned degrees from the Université de Montréal, the New England Conservatory and Vanderbilt University. He is in his fourth season as Music Director of the North State Symphony in Northern California.

Elliott will fill the Victory with long, lyrical melodies, cadenzas and trills while performing Tchaikovsky’s graceful and popular Variations on a Rococo Theme. At 19, Elliott was the first place winner of the 2019 National Sphinx Competition Senior Division, aimed at the development and recognition of high school and college talent in the black and Latino communities.

Liberty Baptist Church's Annual Women's Day

3:30 p.m., Liberty Baptist Church,  701 Oak St.

Angela Primm is a world-renowned singer who will be the featured guest at the Annual Women's Day. Primm has performed for Aretha Franklin, Barbara Mandrel, Dolly Parton, and Brooks and Dunn as well as Southern Gospel music legends including the late Vestal Goodman. Her albums have included "Sanctuary" and "A Little Bit of Heaven."

Wednesday

Pumpkin Carving Party on Haynie's Corner

4-7 p.m., Haynie's Corner Arts District, Corner of Second Street and Adams Avenue

The public is encouraged to come down to Haynie's Corner to help make it spooky for Halloween. There will be 100 pumpkins to carve, first come, first serve. Pumpkins will remain and be used to decorate the area. There will be music, crafts and face painting.
