SAN ANGELO — A San Angelo security guard was arrested nine days after a coworker reported an assault that sent him to the hospital, according to an arrest affidavit.

An H-E-B employee told police a security guard at the store attempted to use a taser on his neck Oct. 1, according to the affidavit. When the employee told the guard the taser had no effect, the guard then punched his head while wearing brass knuckles.

The employee went to the hospital with a laceration on his head, which required two staples, according to the affidavit. The affidavit did not detail what led up to the assault.

Video surveillance from H-E-B, 3301 Sherwood Way, showed the assault and police matched the guard with a past jail booking photo, according to the affidavit.

Rayden Drew Wadley, 20, was arrested Thursday, Oct. 10, on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second degree felony punishable by 2-20 years in jail and a fine up to $10,000.

He was released from Tom Green County Jail on a $35,000 bond Saturday, Oct. 12.

A state law prohibiting certain weapons — House Bill 446 — was amended to remove knuckles during the recent legislative session and went into effect Sept. 1, 2019.
