EPA’s history, three-year average proposal concerns corn leader

The President of Wisconsin Corn Growers says the EPA’s proposal for ethanol blending is concerning because of its planned three-year average of past small refinery exemptions. “That three-year average that they’re going off of is a recommendation by the Department of Energy and not the waivers that they’ve actually granted, so they’re asking us after all of this stuff to trust them now that they’re going to do the right thing.”

Rebout tells Brownfield trusting the government is a little tough right now, but he’s hopeful it will work out.  He says Wisconsin Corn Growers will again testify October 30th in Michigan urging President Trump’s EPA to follow the law when it comes to ethanol blending requirements. “If I can’t make it myself, we will make sure we have people there to speak on our behalf. That will be for sure.”

Rebout is concerned farmers like him might not be able to travel out of state because of the late harvest.  He says all producers are asking is for government agencies to follow the law and ensure a fair deal for everyone.
