Arkansas rice harvest nears completion

Moderate to heavy rainfalls have slowed Arkansas’ harvest pace.  According to the latest crop report from the USDA, 51 percent of soybeans have been harvested, that’s 9 percent behind the 5-year average. 

Eighty-nine percent of the rice crop has been harvested, 4 points behind the 5-year average. 

Seventy-nine percent of peanuts have been dug and 34 percent harvested.

Ninety-seven percent of the corn crop has been harvested.

Twenty-rive percent of the winter wheat crop has been planted with 13 percent emerged. 

Fifty-four percent of pastures and rangelands are called good to excellent.

Rains helped to replenish soil moisture as 71 percent of topsoil and 51 percent of subsoil moisture are called adequate to surplus.
