Farmer in northern Minnesota hopes season ends as good as it began

A northwest Minnesota farmer hopes the end of the year turns out to be as good as the beginning.

Shayne Isane of Badger tells Brownfield a challenging growing season started on a very positive note.

“The crops came out of the ground really nice, we had some timely rains. Went through kind of some ups and downs where we went through dry periods, followed by two wet periods. Then we came into fall and it will not stop raining.”

He’s finished with wheat harvest, but says others in his county are not.

“That’s just really hard to believe since normally wheat harvest is done the first part of September, yet here we are in the middle of October and still fighting with that.”

Isane says he’s only had one day to harvest soybeans, and estimates corn is still two weeks away from being ready.
