14-year-old caught with concealed gun, Oxnard police say

A firearm seized by Oxnard police on Friday night.

Oxnard police arrested a 14-year-old male juvenile after he was caught with a concealed firearm Friday night, according to authorities.

The arrest took place just after 6 p.m. in the area of C Street and Bryce Canyon Road, police said. 

Patrol officers in the area said they saw two juveniles flee on foot when they noticed the police. One of the juveniles appeared to have something concealed in his waistband, authorities said. Officers caught up with the juvenile and a brief struggle ensued, during which the juvenile dropped a handgun, according to police.  

The juvenile was detained on suspicion of felony possession of a firearm by a juvenile, police said. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of a minor injury suffered during the struggle before being booked into juvenile hall, according to police.
