The annual Women in Tech Week, happening now, helps to promote the growth of women in technology, celebrates their many accomplishments, and inspires the next generation of women leaders. Today, women make up only one-third of technology workers in the U.S. One of our goals at Citrix is to empower more women to choose technology as a career path and help to change the world we live in.

To do this, Citrix is partnering with Girls Who Code, the Grace Hopper Celebration, and FairyGodBoss to increase the number of female candidates for open positions and working to mitigate any unconscious bias in our hiring or promotion processes. And we also must help to correct a misconception that the only jobs we have to offer are highly technical coding gigs. At Citrix, like at all tech companies, there are critical roles that don’t require women to code. You’ll find them in areas like privacy and legal; investor relations; HR; marketing; communications; strategy; and much more! In my nearly 11 years here, I’ve worked on many of these teams, and I feel passionate about the opportunities a company like Citrix can offer women looking to shake things up and learn the business of tech.

Joining a tech company has many benefits. Technology companies are generally more progressive when it comes to equality, diversity, and inclusion. They understand that for many women, balancing our professional and home lives enable us to bring our best and most productive self to work. For example, at Citrix, we offer expanded PTO our team members can use to take breaks to re-energize and come back to work recharged and refreshed.

Choosing a career in technology has enabled me to have a challenging and rewarding career without compromising my personal values. My advice to women looking to enter tech? Run and do it, and don’t stop. It’s exciting and fulfilling, and it’ll open opportunities and challenge you in ways you never thought imaginable.
