NDN Athlete of the Week winner for Sept. 16-21: Jordan Benoit, FBA volleyball

First Baptist Academy volleyball player Jordan Benoit has been voted the Naples Daily News Athlete of the Week for Sept. 16-21.

Benoit led the Lions to three wins last week by racking up 32 kills, 20 digs and 8 aces. She received 1,735 of the 3,643 votes (47.6 percent) in the Daily News' online poll.

FBA football player Erick Tello was second in the poll with 749 votes (20.6 percent). Gulf Coast football player Cal Jarbo was third with 565 votes (15.5 percent).

A new Athlete of the Week poll will be posted at 7 a.m. each Monday, and voting is open until 10 a.m. Thursday. Winners receive an Athlete of the Week T-shirt by BSN SPORTS as well as a Naples Daily News gift bag. A video featuring the winner will be posted Thursday on naplesnews.com.

Football Offense

Cal Jarbo, Gulf Coast: Rushed for 101 yards and four touchdowns in the Sharks’ 63-7 win over Reagan

Football Defense

Erick Tello, First Baptist Academy: Returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown in the Lions’ 47-14 victory over Community School

Boys Cross Country

Teddy Becotte, Community School: Placed 20th in the Small School Division of the North Port Invitational in a time of 19:04

Girls Cross Country

Katie Beam, First Baptist Academy: Won the Elite Division race at the North Port Invitational with the fastest time of any Collier County girl at the event

Girls Golf

Sophie Shrader, St. John Neumann: Medaled at two events last week, shooting 37 in a win over Community School and a 38 in a tri-meet

Boys Swimming

Gareth Rosal, Naples: Won the 50-yard freestyle and 100 breaststroke, as well as winning two relays, in as the Eagles beat Golden Gate

Girls Swimming

Adair Olmstead, Naples: Was one of eight Golden Eagles swimmers with a first-place finish in a win over Golden Gate

Volleyball

Jordan Benoit, First Baptist Academy: Tallied 32 kills, 20 digs and 8 aces in three matches last week, helping the Lions go 3-0
