Heavy rains moved into the Phoenix metro area Thursday evening, the latest wave in a series of storms that began Monday from remnants of Hurricane Lorena.

The rain moved in from Southern Arizona.

However, Thursday night's rainfall might be this week's swan song when it comes to storms, as officials were predicting a clearing trend.

The Phoenix area should expect calmer weather Friday and this weekend, the National Weather Service said.

Jaret Rogers, meteorologist for the National Weather Service, said earlier Thursday there was a 40% chance of rain and thunderstorms over southeast Phoenix before 11 p.m.  The rain should dry out by Friday morning, Rogers said.

The weekend will be mostly sunny or partly cloudy with low temperature in the 70s and highs in the low 90s.

A flash-flood watch is still on for south-central, southwest and southeast Arizona until 5 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
