EVANSVILLE, Ind. — A civil engineer working on the West Side Chick-fil-A expects the project to start and finish in 2020.

The start of construction is likely in spring, with completion in late summer or early fall, said Allan Wiley with GBC Design Inc. of Akron, Ohio. Wiley represented Chick-fil-A at Monday's City-County Site Review Committee meeting.

The project address is 4400 W. Lloyd Expressway, at Rosenberger Avenue. A closed Burger King building at the site will be torn down, Wiley said.

Wiley said the Chick-fil-A will have about 70 full- and part-time employees. The building will have seating for 114 guests.

"There's nothing special on this one, it's pretty much a prototype building," Wiley said. He didn't know if a children's play place will be included.

Site Review Committee meetings allow local regulatory agencies such as the Health Department, Fire Department, Building Commission, Area Plan Commission, Water & Sewer Utility and others to exchange information with developers.

The committee had only generic questions and technical feedback on the Chick-fil-A project.

"We'll take those and move forward," Wiley said.

Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A is in Evansville at 7101 E. Virginia Street, in Eastland Mall and on the University of Evansville and University of Southern Indiana campuses. The Eastland Mall location transports some items for sale on Main Street Downtown.
