U.S.-China trade talks had possible setback

Trade talks between the U.S. and China had another possible setback Friday as a Chinese delegation changed its travel schedule and headed back to China earlier than planned.

Deputy-level Chinese officials were in Washington for trade talks on Thursday and Friday, and some of those officials were scheduled to remain in the U.S. to visit farms in Montana and Nebraska. Those visits were cancelled Friday without explanation.

President Trump, who had recently softened his China rhetoric, took a harder line again on Friday, saying he won’t settle for a partial trade deal and he doesn’t need a deal prior to the 2020 elections.
