Crash on Harbor Boulevard in Ventura traps one

A two-vehicle crash injured three people and trapped one inside their vehicle on Harbor Boulevard in Ventura on Friday morning.

The incident was reported shortly before 9 a.m. on eastbound Harbor, just west of Schooner Drive. The area is near Ventura Harbor and the Ventura Keys.

Ventura police said the crash involved one vehicle traveling east and another traveling west along Harbor Boulevard. For reasons still under investigation, one of the vehicles crossed over the meridian and collided with the other vehicle head-on, according to authorities.

Firefighters arrived and found both vehicles heavily damaged, they said. The driver of the van was trapped and needed to be rescued. He was transported via ambulance with moderate injuries, police said.

The driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries. A juvenile passenger of the vehicle suffered no apparent injuries, according to authorities. Both were taken to a local hospital as a precaution, according to police.
