Low-priced mammograms, breast health symposiums and martinis offered by area hospitals

Hospitals across Ventura County will offer low-cost mammograms and events over the next several weeks that highlight breast cancer survivors and advances in treatment.

The programs usher in October’s Breast Cancer Awareness month and start on Sept. 28 with the 10th annual breast health symposium organized by St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard.

The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Serra Center, 5205 Upland Road, Camarillo. Specialists will talk about nutrition, radiation therapy, treatment protocols, breast reconstruction and other topics. Free bone density tests and chair massages will be offered.

Los Robles Health System in Thousand Oaks will host its 23rd annual Power of Pink symposium on Oct. 12 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, 40 Presidential Drive, Simi Valley. Cristina Ferrare, cancer survivor, author and talk show host will be the keynote speaker.

Other speakers will talk about topics ranging from genetic testing to management of lymph nodes. The program will run from 8 a.m. to noon. Call 877-888-5746 for reservations.

Los Robles will also hold a Mammograms, Massages & Martinis event on Oct. 23 from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m. where imaging will be mixed in with comfort and beverages. The event will be at the Los Robles Imaging Center, 865 Patriot Drive, #100, Moorpark. Most insurances will be accepted for mammograms; patients can also pay $99 in cash for the service throughout October.

Adventist Health Simi Valley will hold its Pampered in Pink event in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Nancy Reagan Breast Center. There will be tours of the center, 3D mammography education, mini-massages and healthy refreshments. The event will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 16 at the breast center, 2750 N. Sycamore Drive, Simi Valley.

The Pampered in Pink event will be held on Oct. 16 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nancy Reagan Breast Center, 2750 N. Sycamore Drive, Simi Valley.

The hospital will also host a lecture on breast cancer on Oct. 25 in the garden conference room at 2975 N. Sycamore Drive, Simi Valley. The event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and includes lunch. For information, call 805-955-6744.

Low-cost mammograms will also be offered throughout October by the Community Memorial Health System with prices ranging from $65 to $150. Call 805-948-5093 in Ventura and 805-640-2250 in Ojai.
