Arghrrrrrr you ready for International Talk Like A Pirate Day? Aye, it's today, matey!

Today is Sept. 19 and, mateys, that means, arrrrr, one thing: It's International Talk Like a Pirate Day.

It began as a joke, sort of, about 25 years ago and in the interim has become a special date on the calendar for those who enjoy pillaging, drinking rum and annoying co-workers by calling them "matey" all day. It might also involve parrots, but those can be hard to come by.

Maybe one day, we can all celebrate Talk Like Keith Richards Day.

USA Today, though, didn't take kindly to it, calling it a "fake holiday."

We'd make those guys walk the plank, but we seem to have misplaced it. Arrrrrrr.

Strangely, one of USA Today's sister publications, The Asbury Park Press, published some tips on talking like a pirate, in case you need a primer or haven't watched those "Pirates" movies in a while.

So enjoy the day. Maybe contract Cape Horn Fever and spend the day drinking rum on a dead man's chest, or something.
