Iowa’s Reynolds is optimistic about Trump’s biofuels plan

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds says she’s optimistic the Trump Administration’s biofuels plan will address the issue of gallons lost to RFS Small Refinery Exemptions.

Reynolds was part of last week’s White House meeting where biofuels supporters told President Trump what they wanted to see in that package.

“I think by what we asked for, in looking at a three-year rolling average and putting the waived gallons into the 2020 RVO, that takes care of the issue and the concern moving forward,” Reynolds says.

Reynolds says Trump was very receptive to the group’s requests, but she wants to see the plan in writing before issuing a final judgment. “But what we verbally agreed on, I think, will give some assurances to the industry moving forward,” she says.

Trump has reportedly been meeting with oil industry officials and oil-state congressmen this week to discuss the plan before he rolls it out.
