8-week-old baby dies after being dropped off at babysitter in Franklin, police say

Indiana State Police detectives are investigating the death of an infant in Johnson County on Tuesday.

The 8-week-old baby was dropped off at a babysitter in Pennington Mobile Home Park in Franklin early Tuesday morning, police said. Officers with the Franklin Police Department were dispatched to the residence for a medical emergency at 10:51 a.m.

The infant was transported to Johnson Memorial Health and later died, police said. Toxicology results are pending, and the baby's cause of death is not known.  

An autopsy performed Wednesday revealed no evidence of physical injuries or trauma to the infant, who was identified as Kensli Deese of Franklin, according to police.

No one has been arrested and no charges have been filed in the case.
