Stine Seed president encourages soybean growers to study Enlist E3 chemistry

The president of Stine Seed Company says growers need to fully understand their options with the new Enlist E3 soybean trait.

Myron Stine tells Brownfield the new trait will simplify weed control for growers in 2020.

“It is the path of least resistance for the farmer. It is very easy to use, it has very few spray restrictions, it kills weeds well and it has no off-target movement. After you apply the chemistry, it stays in one spot.”

Stine says growers need to study the chemistry of the product to understand how it can benefit their program.

As for Corn, Stine says if a grower does not have a lot of insect pressure there are other options besides a trait platform for insect control.

“We are finding that straight glufosinate corn with a glufosinate gene in it has been a really good option for growers. It is cost effective and it performs well if they can manage it properly.”

Brownfield interviewed Stine at a plot tour in Breese, Illinois.
