57th Farm Science Review kicks off today

Farmers continue to face challenges in 2019 with low commodity prices and weather variability.

Farm Science Review Manager Nick Zachrich says the event will help farmers seeking advice for dealing with those challenges.

“The things that you can come and see at Farm Science Review besides all the fancy machinery we have and the nice new things and technology– some of those things are great and you can become more efficient by buying some of those things,” he says. “But also, there’s a lot of financial institutions (that will be here) and allow you to be able to figure out if you can lower your interest rates.”

He tells Brownfield there are also countless resources for farmers looking to plan ahead for the 2020 growing season.

“Thinking about, if I didn’t plant this year what are my options and what should I be thinking about because it’s not a situation all of us face typically,” he says. “So it’s a new program that we’re not used to. When you’re used to having a corn or soybean or wheat crop every year and you don’t have one, now what happens.”

Now in its 57th year, the Farm Science Review will offer the latest in farm technology and the most relevant information on crop diseases, soil health, and finding solutions on the farm in tough times.
