Solid week for sorghum, wheat export inspections

The USDA says the week ending September 12th was bullish for wheat and sorghum export inspections. The 2019/20 marketing year got underway June 1st for wheat and September 1st for corn, sorghum, and soybeans.

Wheat came out at 459,258 tons, up 46,650 from the week ending September 5th and 48,093 higher than the week ending September 13th, 2018. The top destinations for the week were Ecuador and Sri Lanka. Just over a quarter into the 2019/20 marketing year, wheat inspections are 7,470,221 tons, compared to 6,116,454 in 2018/19.

Corn was reported at 421,803 tons, down 190,262 from the previous week and 624,104 lower than a year ago. Japan and Mexico were the primary destinations. Early in the marketing year, corn inspections are 893,813 tons, compared to 1,724,428 this time last year.

Soybeans were pegged at 666,490 tons, a decrease of 311,424 from the prior week and a decline of 120,756 from last year. The big weekly destinations were China and Taiwan. So far, this marketing year, soybean inspections are 1,239,957 tons, compared to 1,621,576 a year ago.

Sorghum inspections were 45,161 tons, an increase of 10,612 on the week and 43,835 on the year. Mexico was the recipient of most of the weekly total, followed by Venezuela. 2019/20 sorghum inspections are 78,703 tons, compared to 2,836 in 2018/19.
