[productsample/affiliate] Now, I’m really not much of a powder blush fan – I much prefer the comfort and flexible nature of creme blush. But, every now and again I veer back to a powder version which are useful on hot days or environments when creme has every chance of disappearing under a sheen of perspiration. These have entirely changed my perception of dry, dusty powder blushes and while it’s hard to change habits, they’re as near to doing that as anything has ever been.
Design wise, lovely. You’re not going to lose these in your make up storage and you’ll never muddle up the shades as the colour on the outside denotes the colour on the inside although it’s (obviously) far less intense. When they’re all lined up together they look so pretty, but equally, they stand alone. There’s a little brush inside which I’d categorise as emergency only because it’s just a bit too flimsy but it does do the job if necessary.
In terms of texture, they’re weightless – if you run your finger over the colour it feels almost like a wet powder because the formula uses oils making them feel skin compatible immediately. The colours are exactly right to not over-do in one go – I needed just one pass of a brush from pan to face for the ideal amount (I used Cheeky Rose, shown above) making me think they’re going to go on for nearly ever. I actually feel quite excited about these and I’ve had them in my waiting pile for several weeks (they launched in August) because, you know.. powder blush (yawn).
Shades (there are 8 in total but I am showing 5) starting with the pink at the bottom of the picture and heading clockwise: Cheeky Purple, Cheeky Peach, Cheeky Coral, Cheeky Rose and Cheeky Mocha.
I’ve swatched as they appear from pan to skin in one swipe – obviously you can build up but I like the veil effect and I didn’t want to keep adding more layers to give false promise! From bottom to top: Cheeky Purple, Cheeky Peach, Cheeky Coral, Cheeky Rose and Cheeky Mocha. They’re £27 each which at first seemed a bit pricey to me, but the comfort texture (especially for anyone who doesn’t traditionally like powders) and foolproof use makes me think perhaps not. I use clarins not tried the blush do they do samples
These look really lovely and I find this kind of packaging (colour clue on exterior) so useful when I’m in a rush and my makeup drawer is full of “black shiny things” – eye pencils being the most confusing!! I’m all about the cream blush – but each of the last 3 I’ve found, used and loved go to repeat purchase and it’s discontinued ByTerry, then a Mac one now the fantastic H&M ones… So May give this a go!
Clarins is becoming fast one of my favourite brands…a year ago i wouldn’t even bother giving them a second glance but now I’m totally converted…the Clarins Double Serum and the oils have done wonders for my face. The Double Serum has practically restored my moisture barrier, my face is so soft and less irritated.
