An extra day of well-deserved rest is right around the corner. Labor Day is on Monday, Sept. 2, and that likely means a off day for you and places where you'd normally get services.

Whether you're going out of town or having a staycation, here's where you'll see schedule changes due to the observed holiday.

Schools

  • Yes, the kiddos just went back to school, but they have off for Labor Day, too.

Banks

  • Most banks are closed for the holiday. More specifically, M&T Bank, Wells Fargo, Citizens Bank and First National Bank will definitely be closed.

Courthouses

  • Adams County, Franklin County, York County, and Lebanon County court houses are closed on Monday.

Trash pickup

  • PennWaste will be closed on Labor Day, which will delay residential collection by one day. Monday customers will be collected on Tuesday, and Tuesday customers will be collected on Wednesday.
    • PennWaste also issued a special note for certain townships and boroughs: Yard Waste collection from Camp Hill Borough, Carroll Township, East Pennsboro Township, and Fairview Township will be on on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, due to the holiday.
  • York City Curbside Collections will be delayed by one day for the holiday. This includes trash, recycling and yard waste.

Mail delivery services

  • The United States Post Office observes Labor Day, so you won't get any mail on Monday.

  • Most FedEx services will be unavailable during the holiday. FedEx Custom Critical will be available, and FedEx Office will have modified hours.
