Michigan Senators question if Farmers.gov is working

Michigan Senators are asking the Government Accountability Office to review the effectiveness of IT updates at the USDA and if they are interfering with Farm Bill program implementation.

Senate Ag Committee Ranking Member Debbie Stabenow along with Senator Gary Peters want to know if USDA’s efforts to combine online services of the Farm Service Agency, Natural Resources Conservation Service, and the Risk Management Agency into Farmers.gov has improved or interfered with service to farmers.

They say while the updates were supposed to be done ahead of the new Dairy Margin Coverage program in June, some dairy farmers have said it’s unreliable and they have had to make multiple trips to USDA offices.
