Lawmakers call for EPA RFS waiver investigation

Iowa Congresswoman Cindy Axne is one of several members of Congress calling for a federal investigation into the EPA’s RFS waiver process.

Axne held a press conference in Council Bluffs Wednesday saying she is requesting the EPA’s Inspector General look into what she calls the highly questionable decision-making and misuse of the EPA’s small refinery exemption authority to benefit large and unqualified companies.

The EPA announced 31 more exemptions for the 2018 RFS program bringing the total to 85 in the last three years. That equates to more than 4-billion gallons of renewable fuel that should be blending.

  • Thank you Rep. Axne. Why can’t our Iowa senators get on the ball and do something like this? All I hear from them is a little complaining.
