EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Police are investigating a reported armed robbery that landed an Evansville woman in the hospital Sunday.

This is what happened according to the Evansville Police report:

The 42-year-old woman said that around 9:30 p.m. Saturday she was outside her home in the 1700 block of South Kerth Avenue watering her flowers when she was approached by two men. She said one was in his 20s and the other in his 30s. The older of the two grabbed her and forced her inside her home.

The woman said he hit her right eye with a handgun. The second man also had a handgun. The older man stayed with the woman and continued kicking her in the face and body. She said he kept calling her "Jessica," leading her to believe he had the wrong home.

The man took five rings from her hand. The second man led the woman's sister around the house looking for valuables. She said he took a check written for $299, grabbed her keys to her home and vehicles and left.

The woman called an Evansville officer she knew saying she was afraid the man would come back to the home as he now had keys. The officer took her to the hospital. Crime scene investigators took photos of her injuries. Her right eye was swollen shut and she had a broken rib.

The incident is being investigated as robbery armed with a deadly weapon with bodily injury.
