The Drive A Tractor to Church Sunday returned for a second year at Lazarus United Church of Christ in Lineboro, Maryland this past weekend, with more than 40 tractors of all sizes showing up.

There was everything from a 1-year-old girl riding a tiny plastic John Deere scooter to its massive big green brother, an 8-wheel 8345R Row-Crop tractor.

The church is located just over the Pennsylvania line in a rural community.

“We just thought that we are in Carroll County, Lineboro Maryland, there’s a lot of tractors, why don’t we start something new to get new people in,” said Delaney Warehime, the 16-year-old chairwoman of the event.

She brought four of her own tractors, including “a John Deere M, and Oliver 60, a John Deere B, and a Farmall C.”

Tractor owners chat before worship at Lazarus United Church of Christ in Lineboro, Maryland. The church, located just over the Pennsylvania line, held the event for a second year to attract more worshipers.

After arriving from around the area on their mostly open-aired rides and socializing, visitors filled the church for morning worship, led by the Rev. Rodney Gross.

An outdoor picnic, with ice cream churned by an antique hit-and-miss engine, followed worship with a tractor parade, prizes, and games for kids.
