Comings & Goings: Cornerstone Barbershop opens in WeCo, Hidden Still closes restaurant

While the idea behind Cornerstone Barbershop may have been a bit premeditated, the catalyst was not.

Co-owner Jason McGarry was working what he considered a dead-end job as a car salesman and opted to take a risk, jumping headfirst into the trade.

"I called up a barber school one day and quit my job that day. It was kind of drastic," McGarry said.

Now, McGarry and resident barber Leeanthony Regusa are operating Cornerstone Barbershop in the WeCo district. The shop is in the former site of Cornerstone Ice Cream in the historic Cornerstone Building, which dates back to 1887.

"[It's a ] Very cool neighborhood and up and coming neighborhood. And always felt like this was the real arts area of town...everything kind of made sense to have it here," McGarry said.

Cornerstone Barbershop is located at 101 N. Newberry Street in York. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and by appointment only on Monday.
