What we know about Mike Pence's visit to Artesia, New Mexico, to promote USMCA

Vice President Mike Pence will give remarks and participate in a roundtable discussion Wednesday in Artesia on the proposed United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

When: Aug. 21.

Where: Elite Well Services, 2702 N Freeman Ave.

Doors are slated to open at 10:30 a.m. The Vice President is scheduled to speak at 12:30 p.m.

How to get tickets

The event is open to the public, but an RSVP and tickets are required.

A government-issued photo ID is required for entry. Children under 18 do not need to present an ID.

The event will be staged outside. Organizers ask that no posters, banners or signs be brought into the event.

There is no dress code, though officials recommend preparing for the weather as the event is staged outside.

Seating is first come first service, despite tickets. 

“So, there are no seating limits,” said Kelly Sadler, Communications direct for America first Policies. “We usually generate a couple hundred people at these events."

How to watch livestream

For those unable to make the event in person, a livestream will be offered.

The Office of the Vice President will stream the event via its website and Facebook page at www.facebook.com/VicePresidentPence.

What is America First Policies?

The event is hosted by America First Policies.

America First Policies is a nonprofit organization supporting policy initiatives.

Artesia is the third stop in a series of trade policy events highlighting the benefits of USMCA, Sadler said.

This will be Pence’s second visit to southeastern New Mexico in nearly a year.

Last October, he campaigned for Republican governor candidate Steve Pearce and Yvette Herrell, Republican candidate for United States House of Representatives District 2.

The crowd was standing-room only at the Stewart Industries Hangar at the Roswell International Air Center.

USMCA was drafted last year and could replace the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) if approved by the United States Congress.
