Lettuce sees highest price increase

USDA says food at home prices were flat from June to July.

Ag economist Gianna Short says hot weather in California earlier this summer reduced lettuce production which saw the largest increase in prices.

“Lettuce saw an 8.3 percent increase last month and prices are up 14.2 percent from last year.”

Grocery prices for the first half of the year are up nearly one percent, right in the middle of estimates for 2019.
