Subway to serve meatless meatball sub

Subway is the next restaurant chain to serve products from plant-based protein company Beyond Meat.

Beginning in September, Subway will offer a Beyond Meatball Marinara sub at more than 600 restaurants in the US and Canada.

The Beyond Meatball is a co-developed product created only for Subway restaurants. It is made of peas, brown rice, mung beans and Subway’s breadcrumb mixture. A six-inch Beyond Meatball Marinara sub contains 24 grams of protein.

The plant-based protein blend does not contain soy or wheat, but Subway’s breadcrumb mixture does include wheat and soybean oil.
