JULY 25: Community Dance, 7 p.m., Thursdays, ongoing July and August, at the Ruidoso Community Center, 501 Sudderth Drive. Fee is by donation ($8 suggested). Stop by for a fun, easy and versatile dance that can be enjoyed with slow ballads found in country or modern pop, to a faster Latin rhythms also known as Cumbia. Lessons are great for singles and couples, adolescence to older adults. Dress comfortably, yet cool. bring slick soled shoes and water. JULY 26-27: The annual Village of Corona Summer Festival returns July 26 and 27, in Corona, featuring a kids' rodeo Friday morning, dance from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday's events kick off at 9 a.m. with a Veterans Memorial service, followed by a parade and vending booths on Main Street at 10 a.m., a lunch to benefit the local FFA chapter and a ranch rodeo at the Corona Arena. A library book sale and regional photo competition run both days. Call Corona Village Hall at 575-849-5511 for more information.

JULY 26- Aug. 3:  Alamogordo Music Theatre presents, live on stage, “MAMMA MIA!” the smash hit musical based on the songs of ABBA. Performance dates are July 26, 27 and August 1, 2 & 3. Performances begin at 7 p.m. , with one matinee performance at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 28. Performance location: Flickinger Center, 1110 New York Ave, Alamogordo. JULY 27: Ruidoso Grindstone Trail Runs, 7:30 a.m., Saturday, July 27. Start and finish at Wingfield Park. Three distances: Half Marathon, 8.5 Miler & 4 Miler. Register at Raceadventuresunlimited.com. More information call 575.937.7106.

JULY 27: The Lincoln County Historical Society will conduct a tour of Historic White Oaks Saturday, at 9 a.m., July 27, beginning at the White Oaks School House. The tour will be led by Susan Gerke, White Oaks resident,  $10 donations are gladly accepted and release forms will be available. JULY 27: Deana Carter performs at 8 p.m., Saturday, July 27, at the Spencer Theater north of Ruidoso. Seats are $39 to $69. She is a Grammy and Country Music Award winning singer-songwriter, recording artist and actress with hits such as “Strawberry Wine” and “We Danced Anyway.” Pre-show green chile chicken lasagna served at 5 p.m. for $20.

JULY 30: The 3rd Annual SCM Children and Youth Summit, July 30, at the Inn of the Mountain Gods. Continental Breakfast and Buffet Lunch provided. Be a presenter, tell about what great things are being done.  Be a volunteer, help make the Summit an experience to remember. AUG. 3: Help Us Help You, a benefit for the Lincoln County Volunteer Fire Departments. Cree Meadows Country Club will be sponsoring a benefit for our local Firefighters. Bob The Fireman and Stacy Skaggs will be featured on a country music show/dance to benefit our Lincoln County  Firefighters from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., at the Cree Meadows Golf and Country Club, 301 Country Club Drive, Ruidoso. Everyone is invited; free admission; Call 575-257-2733 to reserve your table; steak night and other dinner options available; bring the entire family out for a fun evening, dance or just sit back and enjoy some country music. Any donation support Lincoln County firefighters.

AUG. 3: End of Summer Adult Pool Party, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Aug. 3, at the Ruidoso Public Swimming Pool , staged by the Ruidoso Parks and Recreation Department and El Camino Nuevo. Early bird ticket is $15/person or $20 ticket at the door, Presale tickets will be available at the pool or Parks and Rec Office on Resort Drive. Tickets include one drink voucher and Swim & Slide entry, Must be 21 or older to attend. No outside alcohol.

AUG. 5: Alpine Village Sanitation District will hold its regular monthly meeting at 4 p.m., Aug. 5, 114 Alpine Meadows Trail. The meeting is being held to conduct regular business for the District, such as paying bills and reporting on the operations of the water system.  Additionally, there may be discussion regarding the drilling of a new well and committees to address the Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan and Capacity Assessment. All residents of the District are welcome to attend. Agendas are available at least 24 hours prior to meeting time.  All regular monthly meetings are on the first Monday of the month at 4 p.m. at 114 Alpine Meadows Trail.

AUG. 17: The High Mountain Youth Project will offer walking enthusiasts from near and far a chance to “go take a hike” for a good cause on Aug. 17. Sanctioned by the global Volksmarch organization and sponsored by High Mountain Youth Project in partnership with Sun Country Striders, the event will be staged from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., on the Mescalero Fitness Trail just south of the Inn of the Mountain Gods. A donation of $10 per family is suggested, larger donations are welcome from walkers and non-walkers alike.
