Bustos creates Congressional Crop Insurance Caucus

Illinois Congresswoman Cheri Bustos has formed a bipartisan caucus to educate Members of Congress on crop insurance programs.

“We know the need for that because as I travel all around our congressional district and meet with our growers, they tell us how important this is. I know that we have a lot of our family farmers who are hurting right now, and we want to make sure that we take a bipartisan approach and stay focused on crop insurance and how helpful that is to our farm families.”

The Congressional Crop Insurance Caucus will work with stakeholders to organize quarterly educational briefings designed to update Members of Congress and staff on crop insurance issues and build support for the farm safety net.

Republican Congressman GT Thompson of Pennsylvania will help lead the caucus.

The National Corn Growers Association, Farm Credit Council and American Association of Crop Insurers are in support of the caucus.
