No new progress in China trade talks

Long-distance trade talks between the U.S. and China continued Thursday, but with no breakthroughs.

Media reports say Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer negotiated by telephone for the second time in two weeks.

President Trump is pushing for China to buy additional ag goods, but Bloomberg spoke with a Chinese official who says those commodity purchases won’t happen unless the U.S. allows shipments to resume to technology giant Huawei.  China is also seeking the removal of all tariffs and what they call realistic purchase targets.
