A regional flight from Appleton to Detroit landed in Milwaukee on Thursday afternoon after a mechanical issue forced the plane to be diverted.

SkyWest flight 4037, operating through Delta Air Lines, landed safely at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport with its 76 passengers unharmed, Skywest spokesman Wes Horrocks said.

The flight took off about 1:40 p.m. from Appleton International Airport, destined for Detroit, and was diverted to Milwaukee when pilots noticed an indication of a mechanical issue — similar to an engine light on a car, Horrocks said.

The nature of the mechanical issue was unclear, Horrocks said. Emergency radio traffic from airport fire crews indicated the jet was having "pressurization issues," but Horrocks said that was not confirmed.

There was no indication the passengers were affected by the mechanical issue, he said. The landing was not classified as an official emergency landingas was previously reported, but simply a diversion.

Mechanics were looking at the issue Thursday evening and the flight was scheduled to depart from Milwaukee about 6:15 p.m., headed for Detroit.

"The flight landed safely without incident and all passengers deplaned normally at the gate," Horrocks said in a statement. "We are working to help passengers resume their travels to Detroit as quickly as possible."
