Authorities identify man killed in forklift accident outside Oxnard

Officials on Wednesday released the name of a man killed last week in an accident involving a forklift in a rural area outside Oxnard.

Jose Luis Enriquez Esquivel, 51, of Oxnard, died from blunt-force crush injuries, according to Michael Tellez of the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office. The manner of death was an accident, Tellez said.

The incident was reported around 3:45 p.m. last Thursday in the 1900 block of South Rice Avenue.

The incident was reported as a forklift rolling over Enriquez Esquivel, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. He was declared dead at the scene, authorities said.

Through an investigation, deputies determined the incident to be an accidental industrial death and found no suspicious activity. Authorities filed a report with the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health to conduct a workplace safety investigation.
